About squid farming technology

Squid is a precious seafood. The characteristics that make squid sex change artificially control the sex of squid fry. From hatching to 10 months old, male squid can weigh up to 700 grams, while females are only 300 to 400 grams. For males, the squid production has been greatly improved. The main method is to mix squid male hormones into squid eggs 3 weeks before hatching (that is, mixing fertilized eggs that have not yet shown sexual characteristics and male hormones for incubation), hatched small squid, males can reach 75%. Some of the artificially farmed squid can grow very large, and the meat is tender and delicious.

Plastic bottle culture uses wild juvenile squid, put it in a 500ml discarded beverage bottle with fine holes, seal the bottle mouth, hang it in series with ropes, and put it in the sea to naturally hang it. The effect is better. The method is simple, but the growth rate of squid is relatively slow, and it is suitable for breeding in sea areas rich in plankton.

Cement pond culture uses 8 cement ponds with a depth of about 20 square meters and a depth of 80 cm. The bottom of the pond is covered with sea mud of 20 to 30 cm thick (50 cm thick in the center of the pond), and the sedimented seawater is injected into it. 10-50g (average about 40g) squid larvae. They were fed once a day in the afternoon, and the bait was live crabs (2-6 g individuals, 300/kg on average) dug from the shoal. Indoor light between 800 ~ 1000LX. During the breeding process, the water was changed (100%) times with sedimentary seawater every day. As long as you pay attention to changing the water in the high temperature season, the squid generally will not die. After about 6 months of feeding, the individuals generally reach 50-100g (about 70g on average) before catching. The method is simple and easy to implement, has low technical requirements, and is suitable for small-scale family farming.

Seine culture In the middle and high tide areas, seine nets are used to surround about 3,000 square meters of squid with dense nets. When the tide is low, the squid hides in the cave. However, the mesh of the purse seine should be higher than the highest level to prevent escape. The method is simple and low-cost, but the harvesting area is large and labor-intensive.
